Beginning
After thinking for a long time about how to start writing for this blog, I decided to take a shortcut: imitating others. It is one way of getting myself out of a rut and moving my plans in the direction they should go.
This one blog I follow publishes a short post every Monday listing articles and books the author considers attractive on a wide range of topics. Why not “kill two rabbits with one staff blow” (as we say in Brazil)? I can start writing again and, at the same time, organize my thoughts. After all, making lists is a procrastinator’s raison d’etre. So here we go.
This Week’s Books
As you get old and your parents get even older, you start to deal with problems that were out of your younger self’s imagination. Your vision starts to get blurred, blood exams are not normal anymore, and one or both of your parents may start showing early signs of cognitive impairment. I recommend A Bittersweet Season and The 36-Hour Day. They were written with North Americans in mind, but I believe the tips and the overall information provided by the authors work anywhere.

2. There are many reasons to write things down instead of recording/typing on a smartphone. I am a stationery snob, so it’s easy for me to say this.
